THE DAWN OF A NEW COMMUNITY
Viera began its quality of life reputation here in Viera East where the community’s first residents settled into a selection of distinct single-family neighborhoods and two multi-family complexes. This established area is beautifully maintained and lush with mature landscaping. There are neighborhoods just right for young families as well as those that cater to active adults. The Viera East Golf Club offers a dozen intimate neighborhoods that border the 18-hole public course designed by Joe Lee.
Neighborhoods are connected by the community’s recreational trail system, which was designated an official “Florida Greenway” by former Florida Governor Lawton Chiles. The trail winds around lakes and through open spaces and conservation areas, where native scrub jays and gopher tortoise can be found. Three community parks are along the way with features such as state-of-the-art children’s play areas, recreational fields and basketball courts. Children can ride their bikes to ‘A’-rated Ralph Williams Elementary School, Viera’s first public school. No wonder Viera earned the ENVY Award from the Florida Association of Realtors for balancing residential development with the area’s existing natural environment!
The Village Center and Shoppes of Murrell, at the center of Viera East, offer convenient retail and service businesses. Additional shops and restaurants are minutes away along the north and south boundaries of the residential areas. Two office parks are located along the Wickham Road commercial corridor.
Wuesthoff Health Systems, a leading, local comprehensive healthcare provider, has chosen Viera East for several of its facilities, including Wuesthoff Assisted Living Center on Murrell Road and Wuesthoff Progressive Care Center, Brevard Hospice and Brevard Homecare, and Wuesthoff Central Laboratory on Spyglass Hill Road. Several other medical office buildings and specialized care centers, including the Autumn House Alzheimer’s Center, and One Senior Place, a unique resource center for seniors and caregivers, are located adjacent to these facilities.
The community-built Brevard Zoo, among Viera’s most popular recreational venues, sits at the southern end of the Viera East community.
Three of Viera’s twelve houses of worship are located in Viera East – Faith Viera Lutheran Church, Prince of Peace Church and New Life Church.
